All Because Idaho Won't Legalize Medical Marijuana

As many of you know, my daughter, Lilly, is not my biological daughter. Her father and I were together when she was taken from her biological mother by Child Protective Services in Washington State.

The State refused to give her to her father, primarily because he used Medical Marijuana for his broken back.

We fought back against CPS and won and brought Lilly home.

And ever since, I have raised Lilly as my own daughter.

While in foster care in Spokane, two years ago, Lilly contracted MRSA, an antibiotic resistant staph infection that can be fatal.
According to, MRSA can spread from a small, contained infection to one that involves your internal organs and body systems. It has been linked to pneumonia and bloodstream infections like sepsis. Recent CDC reports found over 80,000 severe MRSA infections and 11,000 deaths per year.

Due to the negligence by the social workers assigned to her care, Lilly was not given adequate treatment and has suffered continuous outbreaks for the last two years. Her father and I have repeatedly attempted to move her to a place where we can give her the only medicine that has been proven to safely kill MRSA - Medical Marijuana.

Another article states that researchers in Italy and the U.K. tested five major marijuana chemicals called cannabinoids on different strains of MRSA (methicillin-resistantStaphylococcus aureus). All five showed germ-killing activity against the MRSA strains in lab tests. Some synthetic cannabinoids also showed germ-killing capability. The scientists note the cannabinoids kill bacteria in a different way than traditional antibiotics, meaning they might be able to bypass bacterial resistance.

I have met numerous people throughout the Cannabis Community who have used Cannabis oil to heal their own MRSA. A quick google search produces numerous stories and studies that are showing the same results. With everything else we have already tried, from toxic antibiotics that tear apart her insides, to bleach baths and natural remedies, the possibility of even the slightest chance that Marijuana would do anything at all for our baby is just too good to pass up.

Unfortunately, all attempts to stay in the legal medical marijuana states in the North West have fallen through or failed to manifest, mainly due to financial costs of living in those locations.

So we moved home to Idaho, where we have family and friends, and I have been working through New Approach Idaho to aid in changing the laws here ever since in hopes to treat, now not just my own medical conditions, but my daughter's as well.

Last week, Lilly’s father made the decision to move her to Southern California. He received an offer that he couldn’t resist and although I do not agree with the location, or the distance, or the decision, or the timing and extremely short notice, I support his attempt to finally give our daughter the medicine she needs. I just cannot follow like I want to because I cannot afford California’s high cost of living.

So my heart has been breaking as I am forced to watch her walk away with her Daddy and move to a place where she doesn’t know anyone and she will not have ready access to the only mother she knows, her big brother, or any of her family.

All because Idaho won’t legalize Medical Marijuana.

This wouldn't be happening to my family if Governor Butch Otter had just allowed the CBD only affirmative defense bill to pass into law this last spring.

Then we would have a defense here in Idaho for the use of CBD oil for Lilly's MRSA. We would have a defense against the risks of arrest, detainment, and the potential involvement of child protective services and destruction of my family.

But instead, Otter vetoed it and my baby girl has to move away.

So whether we had illegally treated her MRSA with Cannabis oil here at home, or she moves to a state where it's legal, either way, my family is being ripped apart and we have to struggle for her to have safe access.  I am devastated. And pissed.
Mainly at Idaho, of course.

Lilly has to move 1,000 miles away just to have a safe medicine, all because of Idaho’s stupid laws. I am irate that it is so far and I cannot follow. I know how extremely difficult it is going to be to visit, and not being with her every day is already killing us. I don't even know how long it will be before I see her again. It feels like our life is falling apart and we just put it all back together after our fight with CPS.

I find myself in the process of grieving one of the largest losses in my entire existence.

I miss her so much already, and she hasn't even left the state yet. I just don’t know what to do right now as I try to cope with this intense aching in my heart.

Other than plan the next steps in bringing LEGAL Medical Marijuana to Idaho. That's all I can think to do now. The pain of this heartache won't allow me to think of anything else, but figuring out how to bring her home again.

  1. I'm surprised you have not added a link for people to sign the petition going around to get medical marijuana on the presidential ballot for the next presidential elections. Because it is not Idaho that has NOT past medical marijuana it's the sticks in the mud down in Boise who have a political seat and making it a point to get in the way. last time they did a poll Idaho was at 78% in favor for medical marijuana

  2. Does Idaho have Initiative and referendum?

  3. When a governor publicly states that he is going to ignore the will of the people using his veto power, he has stated he no longer represents the people. Let's get this f'ing clown out of office.
